When Should I Mark a Track as Explicit with TunePartner?
Updated over a week ago

When distributing music through TunePartner, it’s crucial to mark a track as "Explicit" if it contains any content that falls under the following categories:

  • Drug References

  • Provocative Language or Themes

  • Swearing

  • Political Content

  • Sexual References or Depictions

  • Violence

This requirement applies not only to the audio content of the track but also to the cover art, track titles, and artist names associated with the release. If the release title, release artist name or cover is explicit, ALL track on your release should be marked as explicit.

When in Doubt:

If you're unsure whether your content qualifies as explicit, consider whether there’s any possibility that the track could be harmful or inappropriate for underage listeners. In such cases, it’s safer to mark the track as explicit to ensure it is appropriately labeled and restricted.

By doing so, you help maintain a responsible and compliant distribution process, ensuring that your music reaches the right audience.

Note: If we believe the track could be harmful or inappropriate even for adults, we may decide not to release it at all.
